Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin (R) is set to deliver the commencement address at a Washington state high school.

The one-time Republican vice presidential hopeful will speak to Republic High School’s class of 2013 — made up of just 27 students — on June 1, according to the AP.

Tyler Weyer, one of the graduating seniors, started a social media campaign last fall to convince Palin to speak at the school’s graduation.

Sarah Palin would have a narrow edge in the GOP primary to challenge Sen. Mark Begich (D-Alaska) in 2014, according to a poll whose sponsors hope to draft her for the race.

Sarah Palin, the former Republican vice presidential candidate and Alaska governor, said Friday that Americans should “stand up and fight for our freedoms.”

Speaking at the first National Rifle Association annual meeting since the Manchin-Toomey background checks bill failed in the Senate last month, Palin — wearing a shirt that read “Women Hunt” — told the audience that “freedom is destroying itself.”

Palin, who spoke out against gun control during her speech, also made references to the late former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher, who died in April, and described Thatcher as her “hero.”
